ProfileCarmen Mercado is the Education and Diversity Manager at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Long Island and Queens. In her role she provides sales, technical and fair housing training to new and seasoned sales agents. She also oversees special projects and diversity initiatives for her company. Carmen has been involved in her company’s Management Assessment Program for sales associates seeking to transition into a managerial role. Prior to her current role, she was a Branch Manager where she developed and recruited agents for her office and managed all day to day operations. She is the current President and Co-Founder of The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals – NYC Chapter; which was launched on July 9, 2004. On April 19, 2006, she was sworn in as a National Board Member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. She has been an active advocate for servicing the under-served markets in real estate such as the growing Latino population with their Real Estate needs. Her passion is to educate and help the community with the entire real estate process. She also volunteers her time to provide seminars in liaison with local not-for-profit housing organizations such as the Community Development Corporation of Long Island a Neighbor Works America affiliate, and other industry partners on a regular basis. She has participated in other speaking engagements, such as the Genworth Financial Seminar held in New York, First Time Home Buyers Seminar held at CitiBank in Brentwood, public access show “Su Conexión Financiera” in Long Island, New York, and an after school event for English as a Second Language Adult Program at the Bridgehampton School. Also, through NAHREP NYC, she has trained real estate professionals on “Credit Smart Español”, which is a combined initiative with NAHREP and Freddie Mac. Prior to joining Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Carmen was the manager and founder of the Hispanic Division for Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Prior to that, she worked on Wall Street for one of the world’s premier discount brokerage firms. While working closely with the CEO of TD Waterhouse USA she had the opportunity to work with the American Red Cross of Greater New York, The HealthCare Chaplaincy, Fordham University, PENCIL Program, and The United Cerebral Palsy, assisting the CEO as a liaison between these organizations with fund-raising, community service activities and other events. With the assistance of local real estate professionals Carmen has expanded The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals – New York City Chapter which now encompasses Long Island by founding a committee to capture the local needs. Her commitment and passion is to increase homeownership within the Hispanic community by providing a forum for both the consumer and real estate professional through educational seminars and empowering career growth for Hispanic real estate professionals. |
