FAQ

We are a 501(c)6 trade association, “The Voice for Hispanic Real Estate®”, and proud champions of homeownership for the Hispanic community with over 40,000 members and over 100 chapters across the nation. Homeownership is the symbol of the American Dream, the cornerstone of wealth creation and a stabilizing force for working families. Our role as trusted advisors and passionate advocates is to help more Hispanic families achieve the American Dream in a sustainable way that empowers them for generations to come.

NAHREP is a purpose-driven organization that is propelled by a passionate combination of entrepreneurial spirit, cultural heritage and the advocacy of its members. Our mission is to advance sustainable homeownership for all Latinos.

NAHREP believes clients deserve to deal with real estate and lending professionals who are experts in their field and are genuinely committed to promoting sustainable homeownership with all the clients they serve, particularly within the growing Hispanic community in the United States.

NAHREP accomplishes its mission by:

  • Educating and empowering the real estate professionals who serve Hispanic homebuyers and sellers
  • Advocating for public policy that supports the trade association’s mission
  • Facilitating relationships among industry stakeholders, real estate practitioners and other housing industry professionals.

At NAHREP, we align all our resources to deliver the following to our members:

  • Networking opportunities – NAHREP’s national conferences, wealth building seminars, regional events, and local chapter events provide a unique forum for the exciting exchange between members of ideas, experiences and shared challenges. These gatherings offer a rich cultural/business connection that our members consider invaluable.
  • Advocacy – NAHREP is the largest minority trade group in the real estate industry. We have a powerful and influential voice on legislative issues related to lending parameters, business practices and regulations that affect access to homeownership.
  • Leadership – NAHREP mentors, leads, and promotes the placement of accomplished, highly skilled Hispanic professionals into key positions throughout the housing industry.
  • Professional and Business Development – The entrepreneurial spirit of our multicultural members is a core strength that NAHREP seeks to enrich in its members through new education programs, business models, partnerships and alliances where diversity is a highly valued commodity.

Empowering real estate professionals to better serve their Hispanic clients ultimately increases the Hispanic homeownership rate. While NAHREP does NOT have specific homeownership products or programs geared to Hispanic consumers, local chapters often engage in homebuyer education events. NAHREP also engages in policy advocacy that makes homeownership more available to consumers and educates international companies and government officials on the issues affecting Hispanic homebuyers. Every year, NAHREP analyzes the demographic trends, entrepreneurial endeavors, and homeownership growth of the U.S. Latino population in the State of Hispanic Homeownership Report. NAHREP, in partnership with the Hispanic Wealth Project, also produces the annual State of Hispanic Wealth Report, which benchmarks how U.S. Latinos are faring when it comes to wealth creation, focusing on progress when it comes to net worth, income, homeownership, employer business growth, and the diversification of assets.

NAHREP membership is open to all professionals within the housing industry. Our only requirement is that you share our passion for sustainable Hispanic homeownership through the empowerment of the real estate professionals who serve the community.

NAHREP is governed on a national level by a National Board of Directors that enacts the mission of the organization, provides financial and resource oversight, ensures ethical integrity and accountability, and determines, monitors and strengthens the organization’s programs and services. NAHREP directors are volunteers who are real estate professionals and other practitioners within the real estate industry.

NAHREP also receives guidance from a national Corporate Board of Governors (CBOG) consisting of representatives from the organization’s Premier National Partners and other professionals from the real estate, lending, housing and Latino advocacy industries. The CBOG issues recommendations on key issues for the organization.

Besides national leadership, NAHREP also has regional corporate boards of governors consisting of representatives from our regional partners that govern each region, as well as volunteer boards of directors for each chapter.

All chapters are required to sign a licensing agreement and subscribe to a specific code of conduct. Members of NAHREP chapters are by default members of NAHREP national as well.
