NAHREP Releases 5th Annual State of Hispanic Homeownership Report

Latino homeownership rates dropped over the past year to 45.4 percent, nearly 20 percent lower than the national homeownership rate. According to the 2014 State of Hispanic Homeownership Report, tight credit set back Hispanic homeownership gains from what they should have been in 2014.

"The State of Hispanic Homeownership Report shows gains in employment, education and income for Latinos, representing the huge influence Latinos have, not only in the housing market but on the U.S. economy as a whole," says Gary Acosta, NAHREP co-founder and CEO. "Access to affordable mortgages for Latino homebuyers would help sustain a healthy housing market and benefit a general economic recovery across the board."

NAHREP's State of Hispanic Homeownership Report explores current and historical data of Latino educational achievements, entrepreneurial endeavors, labor force profile, and purchasing power in the U.S. The data revealed in this report also indicates a lack of affordable homes and a need for a more diverse and culturally competent housing workforce.
