We had a great time at the NAHREP National Convention at L’ATTITUDE! Thanks to everyone who participated. This year, it was held in San Diego, NAHREP’s birthplace. The convention began with the annual Latina Entrepreneur Brunch. We were fortunate to have as a keynote speaker, author, entrepreneur and radio host Patty Rodriguez, who spoke on the importance of representation and its role in forming self-image.
The brunch also featured a panel of Latina entrepreneurs with their own amazing business stories. Another special NAHREP event included NBA players Lonzo Ball, Tyson Chandler, and Gary Payton with Earl Watson and Armando Tam. They discussed how NBA athletes are evolving America’s new mainstream culture and how professional athletes use social media to create brands, inspire culture, and debate social issues as media personalities and profiles.
Elevate Mortgage Summit took place Sunday afternoon, followed by the Icons Mastermind session for the Top 250 which included special insights into breaking into luxury markets. The evening finished with the Welcome Reception and Reception Honoring the Top 250. The Expo Hall was amazing this year, with tons of activities and interesting booths! It was the perfect venue for the Welcome Reception and Monday’s Sabores: A Culinary Experience.
The Opening General Session began with Top 250 recognition, followed by a fireside chat with 2018 NAHREP President Daisy Lopez-Cid and Chef José Andrés. Andrés is not only known for his culinary prowess, but also for his social entrepreneurship like the tremendous work he did in feeding Puerto Rico after Hurricane Irma. We enjoyed a book signing with Luz María Doria after her incredible session on empowering Latinas in the real estate business. The following general session focused on upward momentum in a dynamic market, an important subject as the potential home buyer audience in the U.S. increasingly diversifies. The wildly popular NAHREP educational breakout sessions were filled to capacity both Monday and Tuesday. Of course, the LIVE WITH NICKY JAM music showcase at PARQ was a great time, with Nicky Jam even freestyling off of members’ name badges!
The third and final general session looked into the future of real estate with a panel of industry CEOs. Best-selling author and leadership expert John C. Maxwell gave an inspiring keynote followed by a book signing. To close the convention, NAHREP and L’ATTITUDE held the evening Closing Gala with musical performance by Tito Nieves.
