A one-man show about how an immigrant from rural Mexico comes to the US and succeeds as a real estate entrepreneur is going on tour this month.

The 53 Million & One musical, from the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) has announced a 25-city national tour.

The inspiring, music-filled show, which highlights the common challenges, experiences and aspirations of the 53million Latinos who live in America, starts its tour in Texas in May and then travels across the country. It is sponsored by Century 21 Real Estate.

NAHREP’s 2015 President, Teresa Palacios-Smith, says, “We are excited to share 53 Million & One with audiences from around the country. It is an American story that will move and inspire everyone who sees it.”

Jerry show secondGerardo ‘Jerry’ Ascencio narrates, assumes multiple characters and guides audiences through the most impactful events of his extraordinary life.

Mr Ascencio is widely recognized as one of the most charismatic speakers in the real estate industry and his immigrant experience has made him an impassioned advocate for homeownership and economic empowerment for all Americans.

The show tells of his life from the small rural town of Michoacán, in Mexico to becoming a successful real estate entrepreneur in the ‘land of opportunity’.

He is the broker-owner of San Fernando Realty and Mission Realty REO, and the Chairman of the NAHREP Foundation, and was 2012 NAHREP President.

It also features award-winning Broadway and Hollywood veteran Rick Najera, who will share his insights and experiences as a Nuevo Latino in the media and entertainment industry, using pieces of his comic memoir, Almost White: Forced Confessions of a Latino in Hollywood.

The debut performance is in Houston on 14 May at the Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. It then visits:

• Fort Worth at the Stage West Theater on 18 May
• The Stateside Theatre at the Paramount in Austin on 19 May
• The City Performance Hall in Dallas on 20 May
• The Tobin Center of the Performing Arts, San Antonio, on 21 May.

The 53 Million & One show premiered last fall at NAHREP’s 2014 National Convention & Latin Music Festival in Los Angeles.
