NAHREP affiliate organization to generate national discourse on wealth for Hispanics with chief stakeholders
San Diego, CA – May 27, 2016 – The Hispanic Wealth Project (HWP), formally known as the NAHREP Foundation, has announced the high-status speaker lineup for its Symposium taking place Wednesday, June 1 at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park, New York. The HWP’s Annual Report will be released at the Symposium, unfolding the current progress for the ground-breaking project goal of tripling Latino household wealth in the next 10 years.
“We are generating innovative practices and thoughtful discourse on wealth creation for Hispanics and chief stakeholders are rapidly joining the dialogue,” said Jerry Ascencio, chairman of the Hispanic Wealth Project, “The time for change is now as we are already witnessing tremendous advancement for Latinos at a social and economic level.”
The annual report serves to track the activity from the project in the past year and will be released annually to monitor the overall development of the project. Following the release of the report, influential leaders will congregate to develop solutions and make commitments on measureable financial and wealth building objectives.
Speakers at the Symposium will include Brad Blackwell, EVP at Wells Fargo, Barry Zigas, director at the Consumer Federation of America, Remy Arteaga, executive director at Latino Business Action Network, Arturo Gonzalez with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Brent Wilkes, executive director at LULAC, Scott Astrada, economic policy advisor with the U.S. Senate and Peter Carroll, EVP at Quicken Loans, among many others.
The HWP’s mission is driven by three component goals: to achieve a 50 percent (or greater) rate of US Hispanic homeownership, to increase the success rate of Hispanic-owned small businesses and to increase by 25 percent the number of Hispanic households owning non-cash financial assets (e.g., stocks, bonds, mutual funds, 401k accounts).
This HWP has been supported by eminent institutions such as Wells Fargo, Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, Bank of America, the Mortgage Bankers Association, Chase, Freddie Mac, Quicken Loans, Union Bank and other major industry leaders.
These and other key partners are vowing to advance the HWP’s mission through different means unique to their area of expertise offering Latinos opportunities ranging from professional development and education, client services tailored to fit the needs of the community, and lending opportunities.
