National Advocacy Committee Blog: HAPPY HOLIDAYS FAMILIA!
Celebrating NAHREP familia, cultura, politics, and grassroots action
Que onda mi gente?!
I hope everyone is taking deep breaths and staying warm as we head into the holidays. I just wanted to drop a quick note and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I’m headed out of the country for three weeks but will be back with a vengeance in 2020.
Thank you to everyone who has joined our growing National Advocacy Committee where NAHREP leaders turn their passion into action. There will be so many opportunities to get involved next year and make your voice heard. Stay tuned as we roll out a series of exciting new initiatives.
I’ve been so inspired by so many NAHREP chapter leaders who have stepped up over the past couple of weeks, met with local elected officials, joined local commissions and boards, and told their story.
At the end of the day, we all have a story. That story is the journey of our abuelitos, or our single mother, or that one person who believed in us when no one else did. It’s your little boy or your little girl that you would do anything for. We are all motivated by something so deep and sacred that sometimes it’s a little tough to think about. But this is why we show up to work every day and it is also the why of our advocacy work. This is why we speak up, why we show up and represent our families, our communities, our NAHREP.
When people ask me why I love policy and advocacy so much, my answer is simple: because it’s about family.
Looking forward to seeing you next year mis corazones!
