Wow. This week was a whirlwind. So much has happened and continues to happen as our country reshuffles itself into a new reality. I’ve appreciated all of your stories, input, comments on social media, reposts and private messages. Our community is so powerful, resilient, and resourceful, and we have shown the face of that spirit in full force this past week.
To say we are living in a historic time is an understatement. I urge you to take some time before you go to sleep or when you wake up to journal. We are living in what is perhaps one of the most pivotal moments of our lifetime. There will be the world before COVID-19, and the world after COVID-19.
For the past few months our team has been hard at work finishing up the State of Hispanic Homeownership Report, originally scheduled to be released next week. While our 2020 National Convention and Housing Policy Summit was canceled, we are still planning on releasing the report, most likely around mid-April.
We are currently in the middle of writing the State of Hispanic Homeownership Report so I’m mostly in hiding these days. I am looking forward to sharing the data with all of you and discussing how we can work together to advance this year’s policy priorities. However, before we do that, we need to make our voices heard and vote!
Como están? Hope everyone is making their plans to meet up in Washington D.C. next month! I was just there last week for meetings with the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), to discuss some of the issues I’ve heard from many of you that are impacting prospective Latino homebuyers.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been asked the question: What does the National Advocacy Committee (the NAC) stand for? The answer is simple, the NAC exists in order to advocate for public policy that is directly tied to our mission, advancing sustainable Hispanic homeownership.
I’m still buzzing from this weekend’s Super Bowl performance by our Latina powerhouses J-Lo and Shakira. Sidenote, Shakira is my favorite artist/celebrity of all time.

I hope everyone is taking deep breaths and staying warm as we head into the holidays. I just wanted to drop a quick note and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m headed out of the country for three weeks but will be back with a vengeance in 2020.
