NAHREP Statement on Federal Court Ruling on DACA

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals© (NAHREP©) commends the Brooklyn U.S. District Court’s recent ruling for the Trump administration to fully reinstate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

The December 4, 2020 ruling will allow newly eligible immigrants to file new applications for protection under the program, reversing a memorandum issued in the summer which restricted the program to people who were already enrolled. As many as 300,000 new hard-working and tax-paying Americans applicants could now be eligible.

NAHREP strongly supports the passage of legislation that would offer a path to citizenship for dreamers and immigrants with temporary protected status.

NAHREP also seeks to ensure equitable treatment of DACA recipients in the financial sector by protecting DACA recipients’ abilities to secure government-sponsored mortgages in order to continue to contribute to the U.S. economy through homeownership.
