NAHREP Statement on Selection of Miguel Cardona as Secretary of Education
The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) congratulates President-elect Biden for his selection of Miguel Cardona as his Secretary of Education. As the pandemic continues to impact our educational infrastructure like never before, Cardona will lead the Department of Education at a pivotal time in our nation’s history.
One in every four Americans 18 or younger is Latino and, as stated in NAHREP’s most recent State of Hispanic Homeownership Report, one in three Latinos is under 18. This underscores the role Latinos will play in the future of the U.S., and how important it is that the person responsible for education in this country understands the nuances of the Latino community.
“NAHREP has urged the Biden transition team to make history by appointing five Latinos to his cabinet. We commend President-elect Biden for his work toward selecting a Cabinet that looks like America,” said 2020 NAHREP President Sara Rodriguez.
The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP®), a nonprofit 501(c)6 trade association, is dedicated to advancing sustainable homeownership for the Hispanic community in America. NAHREP has over 40,000 real estate professional members and 100 local chapters nationwide.
