NAHREP Statement on Nomination of Rohit Chopra as Director of the CFPB

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP®) congratulates President Biden for his selection of Rohit Chopra to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CFPB is one of the most critical agencies to NAHREP’s mission of advancing sustainable Hispanic homeownership and bridging the racial and ethnic wealth gap. Rohit Chopra has a proven record of being a dynamic and courageous leader and has demonstrated his acumen for leadership both as the first Student Loan Ombudsman at the CFPB and as Democratic Commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission.

“NAHREP looks forward to working with Rohit Chopra as we work to find the right balance between consumer protection and access to credit. As a colleague at the CFPB Rohit was an inspiring leader, and as the new Director of the CFPB we expect nothing less. We welcome opportunities for collaboration as we work collectively toward breaking down barriers for wealth creation among communities of color,” said Noerena Limón, NAHREP Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Industry Relations.
