NAHREP Statement on Confirmation of Marcia Fudge as HUD Secretary

SAN DIEGO—March 10, 2021—The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP®) congratulates Secretary Marcia L. Fudge on her confirmation as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

HUD is critical to NAHREP’s mission as it is responsible for national policy and programs that address America’s housing needs, improve and develop the nation’s communities, and enforce fair housing laws. Hispanics represent an annual purchasing power of $1.7 trillion and account for over 50% of homeownership acquisition growth for the past 10 years. They also provide 30% of the workforce in the creation of new housing construction. The role of HUD Secretary is therefore critical in driving the policies that will allow more homeownership growth for a greater number of Hispanics in our country.

“NAHREP welcomes opportunities to collaborate with Secretary Marcia Fudge and her HUD colleagues as we work to advance homeownership opportunity for Latinos and other underserved communities and to help bridge the wealth gap,” said NAHREP Co-Founder & CEO Gary Acosta.
