The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP®) Congratulates Julia Gordon on Her Confirmation as Assistant Secretary for Housing of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA)

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP®) congratulates Julia Gordon on her confirmation as Assistant Secretary for Housing of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).

Ms. Gordon brings deep experience to address the significant challenges that face the FHA. If we are going to succeed in closing the homeownership gap for Latinos and other underserved markets, the FHA must be in the forefront as Latinos are twice as likely to use FHA loans to purchase their homes than non-Latinos. With Latinos projected to make up 70% of new homeowners over the next 20 years, NAHREP sees the FHA’s role in facilitating sustainable homeownership only growing.

Aside from her wealth of experience in the national housing space, through her leadership of the National Community Stabilization Trust, Ms. Gordon demonstrates a nuanced understanding of local housing markets and how they can function sustainably even when under stress.

“Julia Gordon has been a long-time friend of NAHREP’s, and we are excited to work with her to create more homeownership opportunities for Latinos. We are confident that Julia Gordon’s depth of understanding of the industry, passion for minority homeownership and equity, along with her wide array of relationships, make her uniquely positioned to leave a lasting impact on the agency,” said Gary Acosta, Co-Founder & CEO, NAHREP.
